MCA Announces India’s Fact Checking Network

Date:

New Delhi Thehe Misinformation Combat Alliance (MCA) on Tuesday unveiled a promising initiative – the birththe framework of an independent Fact-Checking Network (FCN) aimed at establishing self-regulated standards and exemplary practices for fact-checking organizations across India.

In an official press release, the MCA expressed their conviction that this framework would empower fact-checking entities to evolve into trusted allies in the relentless battle against misinformation, or as they put it, “the weaponization of misinformation and disinformation.”

The MCA also introduced a handy email address (factcheckthis@mcaindia.in) serving as a hotline of sorts. This digital conduit is designed for folks to submit posts or messages suspected of housing misleading content, which will then undergo rigorous fact-checking and verification by MCA’s esteemed member fact-checking newsrooms.

The MCA is a cross-industry collaborative effort, united by the shared mission to confront and mitigate the proliferation of falsehoods and misinformation. Their approach involves targeted interventions and a host of activities, all geared toward the noble cause of truth and accuracy.
