Fact Check: 2016 Visual Of A Mosque Being Bombed Falsely Linked To Recent Israel-Hamas War

Date:

A video of a mosque being bombed is doing the rounds on social media. In the clip, few people can be seen laughing. It is claimed that Israeli troops are laughing while blowing up the mosque in Gaza.

The post reads: “Israeli troops laugh as they blow up a mosque in Gaza. For those who think they can claim to be opposed to Islamophobia here yet support Israel’s genocide there: You hate us there, you hate us here. You support blowing up mosques there, you support attacking mosques here.”

Here’s the link to the above post.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the posts, and found it to be old.

Putting the video keyframes through Reverse Image Search, our team found the same video shared on YouTube in Jan 2016, with a title, “Israel Diaper Force bombing Mosque”.

The video description reads: “Israel Defense Force excitingly bombing Mosque in Gaza. You can hear their voice talking in Hebrew… There are civilians inside the mosque. How could you just heartlessly destroy civilian building?”

NewsMobile independently couldn’t verify the original and location of the video. But the above fact proves that the video has been on Internet since 2016, and is unrelated to the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
