It is being widely shared on Facebook as well.
FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be false.
After closely watching the video, we noticed that the way the lips move doesn’t seem natural. Additionally, we spotted some flaws around the edges of the woman’s face at different parts of the video, indicating possible tampering. With an open keyword search, we found the original video in a tweet by Kavya on X. The caption of the tweet reads: “This #deepfake video has gone viral in which #AliaBhatt seems to be a victim. These sites should be banned because they will defame anyone. So, I request the government to ban such sites. And strictest action should be taken against whoever posted such edited video.”

We also found the original video on the Facebook page “Gallery Janda”. However, the girl featured in the clip was not Alia Bhatt. The woman seen in the original video had posted the clip on her Facebook page in May 2022. She had also shared another video of herself in the same outfit on the same page. The Facebook page is categorised as a “Personal Blog“, and has shared several posts written in Indonesian. The girl in the video can be seen speaking the Indonesian language. The phone number listed on the page also has an Indonesian caller code.
Below you can see the comparison between the viral video and original footage.
Past Victims
Before Alia Bhatt, celebrities like Rashmika Mandanna, Kajol, Katrina Kaif, and Sara Tendulkar have become victims of this technology. To address this, the government has declared severe penalties — a fine of ₹1 lakh and up to three years of imprisonment — for creating or sharing Deepfakes.
Thus, it is confirmed that the visual of Alia Bhatt, created with the help of Deepfake technology, has gone viral with false claims.
