An Indian Air Force officer of the 2015 batch, named Manisha Padhi has been officially appointed as the Aide-De-Camp to the Governor of Mizoram Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati.
She is now also the first woman officer from the Indian Armed Forces to be appointed as Aide-De-Camp(ADC) to the Governor in our country.
Speaking about Padhi’s appointment as the ADC, Hari Babu Kambhampati said, ‘Her appointment is not just a milestone but a testament to the power of women breaking gender norms and excelling in different fields. Let’s celebrate this remarkable achievement and continue to champion women’s empowerment in every sphere.
What is Aide-De-Camp?
An Aide-De-Camp is basically a secretary to a person of high rank, usually a senior military, police or government officer. In India, the aide-de-camp is considered to be a title of honour, which confers the post-nominal letters ADC, A.D.C. or A de C.
The chief of services in India- chief of the Army, Navy, and Air Staff, usually gets three aides-de-camp. Whereas, the President usually gets five aides-de-camp. However, the aides-de-camp under the President consist of three from the Army, and one each from the Navy and the Air Force.
Meanwhile, the governors of different states in our country get two aides-de-camp. One is from the Indian Armed Forces and the other Indian and state police services.
