Bengaluru Earns ‘Cake Capital’ Title with 8.5 Million Orders on Swiggy

Bengaluru has been hailed as the ‘Cake Capital’ following a staggering 8.5 million cake orders placed on the online food delivery platform Swiggy in 2023. According to a blog post titled ‘How India Swiggy’d in 2023’ on the Swiggy website, Bengalureans exhibited a strong penchant for cakes, with chocolate retaining its top position as the most preferred choice in the city.

‘Bangalore’s love for indulgence was apparent, with an astounding 8.5 million orders for everyone’s beloved chocolate cake, earning the city the prestigious title of Cake Capital,’ highlighted the blog post.

During Valentine’s Day 2023, the nation displayed its affection, placing a remarkable 271 cake orders per minute, blending love and temptation into a perfect combination, as emphasized in the post.

Yashaswini B was quoted in a report by NDTV as saying, ‘I am not surprised, as people are experiencing more happiness. This is the start of happiness. It’s synonymous with joy, and cakes bring that.’

Another cake aficionado, Harshita Shetty, shared her fondness for the chocolate flavor, a popular choice among cake enthusiasts.

The blog post also highlighted an individual instance where a resident from Nagpur placed an exceptional order of 92 cakes in a single day on Swiggy.

‘A user from Nagpur placed an astonishing order of 92 cakes in a day, possibly enjoying them for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and more!’, stated the blog.

‘How India Swiggy’d in 2023’ report encapsulates data related to food orders and searches on Swiggy from January to November of the current year. The report revealed that user accounts in Chennai, Delhi, and Hyderabad topped the charts, each placing over 10,000 orders.
