FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be false.
Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, the NM team identified a tweet on a blue-tick account of a Chinese content creator, dated January 9, 2024, stating that the video shows the laying down of tracks of the Malaysian East Coast railway line.
Our team also traced a news article on Xinhuanet — a Chinese news platform, dated December 12, 2023, with a title: First tracks laid for Malaysia’s mega rail project. According to the article, the China Communication Construction Co.’s new track-laying equipment is being used for railway track construction in Malaysia. One of the images of the machine matches exactly with the one used in the video, clarifying that the clip is from Malaysia.
Finally, we found a YouTube video on the official channel of the Associated Press showing the launch ceremony of the track-laying machine. Here too, we can see the giant yellow machine matches with the one in the viral clip. This confirms that the latter has nothing to do with India.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show the rapid construction of a railway track in India under the leadership of Modi, is false.
