FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be misleading.
Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, our team identified a YouTube Shorts video on an unverified channel, dated September 20, 2023. The description states that Kohli was visiting his friend’s house for Ganpati darshan. The video matches exactly with the viral clip. Given that it has been online since September 2023, it cannot be linked to the recent Ram Temple inauguration in Ayodhya.
An Instagram post on the official and verified account of Rahul Narain Kanal — a Shiv Sena Leader, carries an image of Kohli, whose attire matches exactly with the one that he’s wearing in the viral clip. The caption also confirms that Kohli visited Kanal’s house for Ganpati darshan.
Another report in The Times of India clarifies that both Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma got the invite to the inauguration ceremony, but could not attend the function due to personal reasons.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show Virat Kohli arriving in Ayodhya for the inauguration ceremony, is MISLEADING.
