Through a Reverse Image Search, the NM team traced the official Twitter handle of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan carrying the original image, dated January 28, 2024. The BJP activists also compared the viral image to the original one, asserting that the IT cell of another political party had fabricated the misleading image to deceive the people of Odisha. Siddhartha Sankar Samal, state coordinator of BJP Yuva Morcha, shared both genuine and counterfeit images on his social media profile. He expressed concern over the attempt by a member of the opposing party to mislead the public with such deceptive tactics. “This deceptive image is an attempt to mislead the people of Odisha,” he wrote, emphasising his belief that the Lotus symbol, representing glory, would prevail across the region shortly.
