FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be MISLEADING.

Running the video keyframes through Reverse Image Search, our NM team traced the original full incident posted on UP Tak YouTube channel, dated 29 February 2024, with a title: Lucknow Nagar Nigam: पर्षाद ने बोल दिया कुछ ऐसा, पहले भड़के कमिश्नर साहब फिर मेयर ने लगा दी क्लास! (English translation: Lucknow Nagar Nigam: Parshad said something like this, first the Commissioner got angry and then the Mayor imposed a class!).

In the meeting, which was convened to decide on a business to handle city cleaning, BJP councillor Ram Naresh Rawat allegedly criticised Municipal Commissioner Inderjit Singh, questioning him about any offers he may have received to bring in a new company. This reportedly led to Singh’s frustration, prompting him to leave the meeting. But even after the House started again, the Municipal Commissioner threatened to kill him if personal accusations were made again and again.

According to reports by various credible news outlets, such as Navbharat TimesAaj TakAmar UajalaETV and  Bharat Express, during a specially arranged meeting chaired by Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, discussions were held between her and Municipal Commissioner Inderjit Singh regarding garbage management in the Lucknow Municipal Corporation. It clarifies that the BJP councillor didn’t call Indrajit Singh as Khalistani, but he called him as corrupt.

Hence, now it is confirmed that the clip of Municipal Commissioner Indrajit Singh getting angry at the BJP leader referring to him as corrupt has been widely circulated with misleading claims.
