Texas: A Texas math teacher has declared his candidacy for president in the forthcoming 2024 US presidential election. He is running as an independent and going by “Literally Anybody Else” because he feels that some people would prefer that someone other than President Joe Biden and Former President Donald Trump win the presidency.
Formerly known as Dustin Ebey, Anybody Else is a 35-year-old North Richland Hills, Texas, resident who teaches math to seventh graders and is a veteran of the US Army. His driver’s license also has the words “Literally Anybody Else” next to his name.
The website of the candidate says “For too long Americans have been a victim of its political parties putting loyalty over governance. Together let’s send a message to Washington and say, ‘You will represent or be replaced’. America should not be stuck choosing between ‘The King of Debt’ and an 81-year-old”.
He continued, saying that “Anybody Else isn’t a person; it’s a rallying cry,” and he pleaded with everyone to become involved in every manner possible to turn this campaign into a source of hope. According to the Guardian, he changed his name because he felt that 300 million people could do better and because he was not happy with the two presidential contenders who will compete in November of this year.
While speaking to a television station in Dallas Dustin said this isn’t just about him but ‘Literally Anybody Else’ is an idea and believes that they can do better out of 300 million people to be President. According to a news station in the United States, this man has already filed his nomination papers with the Federal Election Commission and is trying to garner the 113,000 signatures required to be included on the state’s ballot for the 2024 polls.
He stressed the fact that he is not delusional and understood that garnering the required number of signatures to be on the state ballot could be a challenging task. While having a conversation with a local news channel Dustin said he hopes to have his name underneath Joe Biden and Donald Trump in the ballots. He stressed the fact that he wants an outlet for people like him who are sick of constant power grabs between two parties which has no benefit for the common person.
In a tweet from November 2023, he mentioned that now is the time for revolution and meeting Anybody Else. A leader who is untouched by Politics and the person who empathises with the dreams and struggles of every American. In the end, he added that we should prioritize practical solutions and the future for everyone.
