Fact Check: Fake News Clipping Viral As ‘Kejriwal accused of rape in 1987’

A Newspaper clipping of The Telegraph from June 8, 1987, is being shared online with the headline, ” IIT student accused of rape.” According to the article, the accused student is Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

FACT CHECK 

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found it to be fake.

We ran a Google search using relevant keywords but did not find any news report supporting the viral claim.

We then checked the archive of The Telegraph of June 8, 1987, and did not find any such report. We also noticed that the style sheet of the actual paper and viral clipping were very different.

When we searched Google for ‘newspaper clip generator’, several websites popped up. However, the template on one such site was similar to the viral clipping.

The above information proves that the viral news clipping is Fake.
