FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the claim, and found it to be misleading.
With a keyword search regarding SRK campaigning for Congress, the NM team traced a YouTube video on the official account of The Indian Express, dated April 19, 2024, with a title: Shah Rukh Khan Lookalike Ibrahim Qadri Supports Congress Leader In Solapur.
Upon comparing both the viral and the YouTube videos, we found them to be identical. As per the YouTube video report, Ibrahim Qadri, a lookalike of Bollywood superstar SRK, supported Praniti Shinde’s political campaign in Solapur, Maharashtra. Other report from India Today, News 18 India also carried similar videos.
We found another report by The Hindustan Times, dated April 19, 2024, with a title: BJP Objects to Shah Rukh Khan Lookalike Campaigning for Congress Candidate in Solapur.
Check the above report here.
After the video of SRK lookalike campaigning in Solapur for Congress candidate Praniti Shinde went viral, the BJP called it a ‘scam’ orchestrated by the Congress party.
Thus, it is clear that the video in question is fake as it does not show SRK campaigning for a Congress candidate.
