London: 13-Year-Old Dies After Man With Sword Stabs Multiple People, Arrested

London: In a tragic incident in East London, a 13-year-old boy lost his life on Tuesday following a horrifying incident where a man holding a sword violently attacked multiple people and two police officers before being taken into custody by the police.

According to an NDCTV report, Chief Superintendent Stuart Bell from the Metropolitan Police informed reporters, “It’s with great sadness that one of those injured in this incident, a 13-year-old boy, has died from their injuries.”

Metropolitan Police Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan said ” This must have been a terrifying incident for those concerned. I know the wider community will be feeling shock and alarm. We do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the wider community”.

“I am being regularly updated about the incident at Hainault Station this morning,” Britain’s interior minister James Cleverly said in an X-post. “My thoughts are with those who have been affected.”

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, stated that additional reassurance patrols will be deployed in the area and urged the public to refrain from speculation. “I remain in constant contact with the Commissioner. A man has been arrested and the area secured. The police are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident. There will be additional reassurance patrols in the area. The police officers and emergency services showed the best of our city – running towards danger to protect others and I thank them from the bottom of my heart”, the Mayor said in a statement.

He said that he is incredibly grateful to the police and emergency services for exemplifying our city’s best qualities by bravely facing danger to safeguard others. In addition, he encouraged people to refrain from speculating until the police had verified the incident’s specifics and to refrain from sharing any information about it on social media.

As per local reports, fire and rescue crews as well as ambulances were dispatched to the scene of the incident. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak described it as a “shocking incident” and added, “My thoughts are with those affected and their families.”

One of the witnesses said that they heard shrieking around 7 am before witnessing a man jumping over some fences. The man, who asked not to be named, told the PA news agency: “I heard shouting, I heard shrieking – I thought ‘who would be shrieking at this time in the morning?’ Some eyewitnesses said that they saw someone being given CPR while lying on the ground and a man was running out of the house with his hand bleeding very badly.

People also said that the road was blocked on either side of the station entrance all transport in the area (Tubes and Buses) was suspended and there was a helicopter circling the area.
