An Indian student hailing from Telangana, Rupesh Chandra Chintakindi, has been reported missing in Chicago since May 2. The Chicago police have issued a statement urging the public to come forward with any information regarding the whereabouts of Rupesh Chintakindi, who was reported missing from the 4300 block of N Sheridan Road.
The Consulate General of India in Chicago stated they are actively coordinating with local authorities and the Indian diaspora in efforts to reestablish contact with the 25-year-old. Taking to X (formerly Twitter) the Consulate General of India in Chicago wrote, “The Consulate is deeply concerned learning that Indian student Rupesh Chandra Chintakindi is incommunicado since 2nd May. Consulate is in touch with the police and the Indian diaspora hoping to locate/reestablish contact with Rupesh.”
Kanukuntla PremKumar, identifying as the brother of missing student Chintakindi, has raised concerns regarding his sibling’s disappearance. According to PremKumar, his 25-year-old brother has been missing for the past five days. Taking to social media platform X, PremKumar tagged External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in his post, seeking assistance in locating his missing brother.
According to a report by The Times of India, Sadanandam, the father of the missing student, has reached out to Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, appealing for assistance in locating his 25-year-old son. In response, G Kishan Reddy’s office wrote a letter to the Ministry of External Affairs, urging the Consulate General of India in Chicago to help trace the missing student.
Earlier in April, an Indian student who has been missing since March this year was found dead in the US state of Ohio, the Consulate General of India in New York said.The Consulate General of India in New York said it is “anguished” to learn about the death of Mohammed Abdul Arfath and is in touch with local authorities to ensure a thorough investigation into his death.
