Shikhar Dhawan ruled out of World Cup due to injury

In a major blow for the Indian cricket team, opener Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out the ongoing 2019 World Cup following thumb fracture.

Dhawan injured his thumb while batting against Australia where he played a match-winning knock of 117-runs.

Team management has called in Rishabh Pant from India as cover just before India’s match against New Zealand, which was eventually was washed out without a ball being bowled.

In the big match against Pakistan, KL Rahul walked in to open with Rohit Sharma where is scored 57 and added a record 136 first wicket partnership.

India has had a great start to their World Cup as they have remained undefeated by South Africa, Australia and Pakistan while the game against New Zealand was washed out.

India will now face Afghanistan before they take on West Indies, hosts England, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
