Mumbai faces heavy rains, water reaches knee level in several areas

Heavy rainfall in Mumbai, on Friday, led to severe water-logging and flooding in several isolated areas such as Dharavi and the Western Express Highway. Many commuters were stranded on waterlogged roads due to heavy traffic in the areas.

As per the India Meteorological Department(IMD) , rains are expected to continue throughout the day today. The city’s weather forecast predicts cloud cover and no sunshine.

According to the weather forecasting agency, several cities such as Badlapur, Panvel and Shahpur witnessed rains on Thursday. Rainfall was also witnessed in Kurla, Santa Cruz, Colaba, Borivali and Kandivali areas of Mumbai.

Despite rains, flight operations have not been disrupted.
