Delhi, Gurgaon schools to stay shut for another week

Hours after the Delhi government announced on Sunday that summer holidays would be extended till July 8 in Delhi schools for students up to class 8 due to the heatwave in the national capital, Haryana government has followed the suit.

In view of the extremely hot weather, the Haryana government has decided to extend school holidays in all government as well as private schools by one week. Now the schools will remain closed till July 7, 2019 and will reopen on July 8, 2019.

Earlier in the day, Delhi deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia tweeted, “Due to weather conditions prevailing in Delhi, summer holidays have been extended by a week for the students up to class 8. Schools for the children up to class 8 will re-open on July 8. The schools for the remaining classes will be open as per the old schedule.”


In another tweet, he wrote shared Delhi government’s order regarding extending summer vacations for all government, government aided and private schools, including local body schools.

Besides, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday stated in its All India Weather Warning Bulletin that the heat wave condition is likely to prevail over Delhi and NCR with minimum and maximum temperatures hovering around 32 degrees Celsius and 43 degrees Celsius, respectively. The relative humidity will be around 28 per cent.
