Date:

An Iranian-owned oil tanker was struck by two missiles off the Saudi port of Jeddah on Friday, which may have resulted in some oil spill, according to reports that have emerged now. No one is said to have been injured in this explosion.

The fire is said to have damaged two storage tanks of the ship and that is said to have caused an oil spill on to the Red Sea. The ship was about 60 miles from the port city of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.

According to an Iranian news agency, the fire has been put off and the oil spill has been reduced to a minimum.

Maritime tracking firm Tanker trackers has said that the ship was plying supplies to Syria despite sanctions against them.

This incident comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Last month 18 drones and 7 cruise missiles have struck various Saudi oil facilities. The Saudis and the US have blamed Iran for these spates of attacks.

Iran has denied its involvements in any and all of these attacks.
