Putting an end to the speculations of Rajinikanth joining the BJP, the superstar on Friday said that the BJP ‘is attempting to saffronise’ him but he ‘will not be trapped’.
Referring to a recent controversy triggered by Tamil Nadu BJP, which released photos of ancient Tamil poet Tiruvalluvar dressed in saffron, the 68-year-old actor said he, like Tiruvalluvar, “would not get trapped”.

“The BJP has not made any offer to me to join them. But the BJP is attempting to saffronise me just like they are saffronising Tiruvalluvar. I will not get trapped, nor will Tiruvalluvar,” he said, responding to a question about Tamil Nadu BJP leader Pon Radhakrishnan reportedly inviting him to join the party.
Further, Rajinikanth also appealed to the people to remain calm and respect the judgement of the Ayodhya title suit case that is expected later this month.
“I appeal to people to remain calm and respect the verdict,” he told reporters.
