No, this picture is not of last namaaz offered at the Babri Masjid site; here’s the fact check

Date:

A picture is being shared online where a lot of people can be seen offering prayers and reading namaaz. It is being claimed that the picture was taken when namaaz was offered at the Babri Masjid site for the last time before the land was handed over to the Hindus.

“Babri Masjid me aj akhri namaz ada ki gyi…
Is ke bad Hindu ke hawaley kr di jye gi…Saddest picture of the day, ” the caption read.

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile fact-checked the above post, we found the claim to be false.

On putting the image through Reverse Image search, we found a blog post published in 2008 titled ‘The Hajj and Eid al-Adha‘ that featured this image.

According to the caption, the image was taken at the Ferozshah Kotla Mosque on December 9, 2008, while the Muslims offer Eid al-Adha prayers.

We then check the official website of AP Images and found the viral image. “Muslims offer Eid al-Adha prayers at the Ferozshah Kotla Mosque in New Delhi, India, Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008. Muslims worldwide are celebrating Eid al-Adha, or Feast of the Sacrifice. (AP Photo/Gurinder Osan),” the caption read.

The above information proves that the picture is not from the Babri Masjid site and hence the claim is fake.
