Viral video of cops beating men is not from Uttar Pradesh; here’s the fact check

A video is doing rounds on social media in which cops can be seen beating a few men. It has been claimed that the video is from Uttar Pradesh and UP policemen were beating the protesters for pelting stones and vandalising public property.

At the time of filing this report, the above post was shared by over 1,600 Facebook users.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and we found that the claim attached to the video to be false.

On one of the twitter posts, UP Police had clarified that the video is NOT from Uttar Pradesh.

In the tweet dated January 17th 2020, the official handle of UP Police’s fact check bureau, attached a YouTube video of ABP News dated May 29th, 2015 which confirmed that the video is NOT from UP but from Madhya Pradesh’s Indore.

Hence, the above information proves that the claim attached to the video is false.
