The effects of COVID-19 appear to be unrelenting and there appears to be no respite from this deadly virus. Here are the top 10 global developments on Monday,

1. According to reports, the Queen of Britain has been taken out of the Buckingham Palace and is currently at the Windsor Palace, after one of the Royal aides tested positive for the virus.

2. German Chancellor Angela Merkel is in quarantine after she came in contact with a Doctor who has tested positive for the virus.

3. In the United States of America, Senator Rand Paul from the state of Kentucky has tested positive and will remain in quarantine.

4. The World Health Organization said that it will be launching global trials of the four most promising Coronavirus treatments which include amongst others the drug combo used to treat HIV and Malaria amongst others.

5. Thailand has reported a rise of nearly one-third of its previous cases and the current number stands at about 600. This has given rise to suspicions of zero infections in the neighbouring Myanmar and Laos.

6. Germany which has so far not banned any social gathering, has decided to ban gathering of more than two people at a time in a single place.

7. Pakistan has proposed a video conference with certain South Asian nations and has asked for the developed world to restructure its loan repayment demands from the developing nations. The nation has about 757 positive cases and Prime Minister Imran Khan has ruled out a complete lockdown.

8. Italy has now has about 59,000 positive cases and about 5400 deaths reported. This is the second highest after China.

9. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has also asked the global community to postpone the Tokyo 2020 Olympics if it isnt held in its complete form. This came even as Canada decided not to send its team to participate in the Olympics.

10. The total number of positive cases globally stands at 3,35,997 cases and the number of deaths stands at 14,641.
