COVID-19 | Delhi CM Kejriwal warns private hospitals against ‘black marketing’ of beds

Date:

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday warned hospitals in the national capital against the ‘black marketing’ of beds and said that they will not be spared.

“Some hospitals are denying admission to COVID-19 patients. I am warning those who think they will be able to do black-marketing of beds using the influence of their protectors from other parties, you will not be spared”, Kejriwal said.

He also mentioned that the Delhi Government is bringing out an order that will be issued to all hospitals, which states that no suspected COVID-19 case will be turned away from a hospital.

He also mentioned that a medical professional from the Delhi government will sit at the private hospitals to monitor the situation, and ensure that the hospital does not turn away patients now.

He also requested asymptomatic people to not go for COVID-19 testing as the healthcare system will collapse with the added numbers.

“Delhi is conducting the most number of tests in the country but our capacity is limited. If asymptomatic patients undergo tests, our healthcare system will collapse. I request them not to go ahead with tests”, Kejriwal said.

Delhi has reported 26,334 cases so far, while the death toll stands at 708.
