Fact Check: Was actor turned politician Sunny Deol thrown out of Gurudwara Sahib? Here’s the truth

A video of actor turned politician, Sunny Deol is being shared on social media with a claim that he was thrown out of Gurudwara Sahib.

“Sunny Deol ko logon ne dhakke markar Gurudwara Sahib se bahar nikal Diya aur kahan yah BJP Ka dalla hai…. Great Job” the caption read.

(Translation: Sunny Deol was thrown out of the Gurudwara Sahib because he is a BJP agent)

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral video and found the claim to be false.

We looked for reports to support the claim but did not find any credible reports.

However, a relevant keyword search led us to an ANI video, dated May 1, 2019. “LS polls: Sunny Deol offers prayers at Gurdwara Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab’s Gurdaspur, ” the video title read.

In the ANI video, Deol can be seen sitting inside the Gurudwara and wearing the same clothes as in the viral video.

In a report by the Indian Express, Deol can be seen surrounded by a huge crowd of supporters while his bodyguard escorts him to his car.

From the above information, we can establish that the claim attached to the viral video is false and he wasn’t thrown out of the Gurudwara.
