COVID-19 | Top 10 developments in India this Friday morning

India reported its biggest-ever single day spike, which has now crossed the 10,000-mark and nearly 400 deaths in the last 24 hours, as the total tally inches closer to the 3 lakh-mark.

Here are the top 10 developments in India this Friday morning-

1. India reported a new biggest-ever spike in COVID-19 cases with 10,956 new cases in the last 24 hours. It also reported the highest number of deaths- 396 – in the last 24 hours.

2. The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in India now stands at 2,97,535 with a death toll of 8,498.

– Active cases: 1.41,842
– Cured/discharged/migrated cases: 1,47,195

3. Delhi Government issued order directing all designated COVID-19 hospitals to make oxygen facility available on all of their beds. Decision taken in view of the surge in positive cases in Delhi in last one week.

4. Only 0.73% of sample population was infected with COVID-19, as per ICMR’s sero-surveillance survey.

5. Highest single-day rise with 3607 new COVID-19 cases and 152 deaths reported in Maharashtra on Thursday, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 97,648.

6. There are a total of 2,028 COVID-19 reported positive cases in Mumbai Police and a total of 82 in the State Reserve Police Force.

7. 1877 more COVID-19 cases and 65 deaths reported in Delhi on Thursday. This is the highest single-day spike in the national capital.

Total number of cases in the national capital is now at 34,687, including 20,871 active cases, 12,731 recovered/discharged/migrated and 1,085 deaths.

8. 389 more COVID-19 cases and 12 deaths reported in Haryana on Thursday. Total number of cases in the state is now at 5,968, including 2,260 recovered/discharged, 3,644 active cases and 64 deaths.

9. Bhopal will remain shut for two days in a week- on Saturdays and Sundays, as per Madhya Pradesh Health Minister Narottam Mishra.

10. 192 more COVID-19 cases and 4 deaths reported in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday. Total number of cases in the state is now at 10,241, including 7,042 discharged, 2,768 active cases and 431 deaths.
