COVID-19 | Top 10 Developments In India This Sunday Morning

India’s coronavirus tally has crossed the 1.1-crore mark, while over 1.57 lakh people have succumbed to the viral disease until now.

Here are the top 10 developments this morning:

  1. People with the presence of one of the 20 comorbidities, including diabetes and heart failure with hospital admission in the past one year, will be prioritised in the next phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive, the government said on Saturday.
  2. Around 10,000 private hospitals empanelled under Ayushman Bharat PMJAY, more than 600 hospitals empanelled under CGHS and other private hospitals empanelled under State Government Health Insurance Schemes can participate as COVID Vaccination Centres (CVCs), Rajesh Bhushan, Union Health Secretary informed on Saturday.
  3. The price of the coronavirus vaccine at private facilities in the country has been capped at Rs 250 per dose which includes Rs 100 as service charge, according to central government sources.
  4. Andhra Pradesh reported 118 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, taking the total count of cases to 8,89,799.
  5. Punjab reported 595 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, taking the total number of cases in the state to 1,81,597, according to the state health department.
  6. Delhi reported 243 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative count of people infected with the virus to 6,39,092, said Delhi’s health department.
  7. Kerala on Saturday reported 3,792 fresh COVID-19 cases, pushing the cumulative count of cases in the state to 10,56,149.
  8. Maharashtra reported 8,623 new COVID-19 cases, 3,648 recoveries, and 51 deaths in the last 24 hours, the State Health Department informed on Saturday.
  9. District Election Officer of Darjeeling and District Magistrate Shashank Sethi has increased the polling stations in five Assembly constituencies in the district for the upcoming polls in the view of ongoing pandemic.
  10. In view of a surge in active cases of COVID-19 in some of the states and Union Territories, Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba on Saturday chaired a high-level review meeting with Chief Secretaries of states and UTs and stressed on the need for effective testing, comprehensive tracking, prompt isolation of positive cases and quick quarantine of close contacts.
