Date:

With the countdown for assembly elections in a few states having begun, fake news factories are going full throttle to spread misinformation.

post can be seen circulating on social media in which a hoarding featuring PM Modi can be seen. Also, the BJP party symbol – the lotus – is upside down in the picture used in the post.

The text on the heading reads: “बहुत हुई महंगाई की मार, आओ हटायें मोदी सरकार”

(Translation: Enough with the inflation, let’s remove the Modi government)

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile did a fact-check on the above picture and found that the photo is photoshopped.

On putting the picture through Reverse Image Search, we came across the same image in an article published by ‘The Mint’ on December 29, 2014.

The original billboard read,”पूर्ण बहुमत स्थिर सरकार चलो चलें मोदी के साथ.”

(Translation: Full majority stable government, let’s go with Modi)

The caption of the image read, “Posters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi have come up in Delhi ahead of assembly elections in early 2015. Photo: Pradeep Gaur/Mint.”

In the Fake Vs Real collage, it is clear that the image was edited using photo editing software.

Hence, it proves that the picture in circulation is FAKE.
