New Delhi: Amid scorching heat, the central government has issued a fresh set of guidelines for schools in Delhi-NCR.
The guidelines suggested schools to start early in the morning and get the classes over before noon. The classes can start from 7:00 AM onwards. The guidelines further added that school assembly should be conducted in a closed area.
Schools should permit the wearing of light coloured uniforms and cotton material dress during the classes. They further asked schools to relax certain norms such as neckties in the upcoming days.
The guidelines were released after parents complained about the increasing temperature instances observed in the past few days. Several state governments like Punjab and Haryana issued guidelines for schools in their states.
For transportation to and from schools, the guidelines added that vehicles and buses should not be overcrowded and water should be available at all times in these buses and vans.
The central government also laid stress on providing hot cooked meals under PM Poshan Yojna and suggested students not carry food that can turn stale quickly. Schools at all times should have a ready supply of Oral Rehydration Solutions (ORS) sachets for students who feel dehydrated during school hours.
As the season of exams and tests is approaching, the government has advised schools to allow students to carry a transparent water bottle in classrooms during exams. The schools further should ensure that classrooms have proper ventilation and working fans.
