Rajasthan: 2 Pilots Dead As IAF’s MiG-21 Fighter Jet Crashes In Barmer

New Delhi: An Indian Air Force (IAF) MiG- 21 trainer aircraft crashed on Thursday near Barmer in Rajasthan.

IAF in a statement added, “At 9:10 pm this evening, an IAF MiG 21 trainer aircraft met with an accident in the western sector during a training sortie.”

The statement further confirmed that both the pilots succumbed to injuries. The statement also mentioned that a court of Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had a conversation with IAF Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari on the crash of MiG-21 fighter aircraft in Barmer.

The Defence Minister further took to twitter and added that “Deeply anguished by the loss of two Air Warriors due to an accident of IAF’s Mig-21 trainer aircraft near Barmer in Rajasthan. Their service to the nation will never be forgotten. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of sadness.”
