New Zealand Cricketer Reveals Being ‘Slapped’ By IPL Franchise Owner

Date:

New Delhi: In a shocking revelation, former New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor accused one of the owners of the Rajasthan Royals franchise of “slapping” him during the 2011 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Taylor in his autobiography ‘Ross Taylor: Black & White, said that the incident took place during a match in 2011 against Kings XI Punjab (current Punjab Kings) in Mohali.

From an excerpt of his book quoted by Espncricinfo, he claimed that “The chase was 195. I was lbw for a duck and we didn’t get close.” He further added that one of the owners of the franchise while talking to him said that “Ross, we didn’t pay you a million dollars to get a duck, and slapped me across the face three or four times. He was laughing and they weren’t hard slaps but I am not sure that it was entirely play-acting.”

He further added that “I wasn’t going to make an issue out of it , but I couldn’t imagine it happening in many professional sporting environments.”

Ross Taylor was part of the Rajasthan Royals franchise in 2011 after starting his IPL journey from Royal Challengers Bangalore.
