A picture has surfaced on the internet showing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi with a girl. It has been claimed that the picture is from the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra.
The caption in Tamil reads: குழந்தைகளுடன் மருதாணி வைத்து விளையாடும் இந்த #pappu-வை கூட்டிக்கொண்டு யாத்திரை போகும் அந்த 10 பேரை நினைத்தால் தான் பாவமாக இருக்கிறது…#pappuYatra (English translation: It’s a pity to think of those 10 people going on pilgrimage with this #pappu playing henna with children…)

NewsMobile fact-checked the above picture, and found the claim to be false.
Putting the picture through Reverse Image Search, we traced the same image on the official website of Getty Images. The picture in question dates back to August 2015 and the girl in the picture is Rahul Gandhi’s niece (Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s daughter) Miraya Vadra.
The caption reads: “NEW DELHI, INDIA — AUGUST 20: Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi with his niece Miraya Vadra during a remembrance ceremony for the 71st birth anniversary of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at Veer Bhumi on August 20, 2015 in New Delhi. Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated during electoral campaigning, allegedly by Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) rebel separatists, in Sriperumpudur, Tamil Nadu on May 21, 1991.”
We also found more pictures from the Veer Bhumi of Rahul Gandhi, Miraya Vadra and other members of the Gandhi family.
In conclusion, the above findings establish that the picture in question is Rahul Gandhi’s niece Miraya from 2015, and it is not related to the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
