One Cannot Remain In Administration Forever: Sourav Ganguly On His Future In BCCI

Kolkata: Amid the recent buzz over the next BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly opened up about his future and revealed he enjoyed his time as a cricket administrator, but one “cannot play forever, remain in administration forever”.

Talking at an event Ganguly looked back at his tenure as first the President of Cricket Association of Bengal for five years, followed by being President of BCCI for years. He said “After all these terms, you have to leave and go.”

He opened up about his task as an administrator and added that “Me being a player, who was around for a long time, understood it. I enjoyed my time as an administrator thoroughly. You cannot play forever and you cannot remain in administration forever,”.

According to reports, former cricketer and 1983 World Cup-winning team member Roger Binny is likely to replace him as the next President of BCCI. Rajiv Shukla has filed a nomination for Vice President while Jay Shah remains in the post of Secretary.

Sourav Ganguly, the current President of BCCI, is tipped to be India’s representative for the 16-member International Cricket Council (ICC) Board Chairman’s post, elections for which are slated to be held this November.
