New Delhi: Tech giant Meta has finally rolled out the highly-anticipated feature ‘Communities’ in WhatsApp aimed towards bringing large groups, institutions, and organizations under one umbrella.
WhatsApp in a major announcement added that “we’re excited to announce we’ve started to roll out Communities on WhatsApp globally and this will be available to everyone over the next few months.”
The feature can be activated by clicking on the new communities tab at the top of user chats on Android and iOS devices. Users can start adding existing groups or make new Communities from scratch.
The feature will help users to switch from one group to another, enabling the admin to send important information across the Community.
WhatsApp further added that they are aiming to raise the bar of privacy and security by providing better privacy through “end-to-end-encryption”.
Meta has further introduced features like in-chat polls, 32 person video calling feature, and groups upto 1024 users. Sharing of larger files upto 2GB will be available for smooth functioning of Community.
