Third Test Between Ind, Aus Likely To Be Shifted Out Of Dharamshala: Reports

Date:

Dharamshala: The third match of the ongoing Border Gavaskar series scheduled from 1st March at the Dharamshala Stadium is likely to be shifted as the ground might not be ready to host an international match.

According to a report by ESPNCricinfo, a final decision is likely to be made in the next few days based on an inspection by the board’s team of experts.

The report further added that BCCI is already exploring other options for the third test venue which includes Visakhapatnam, Rajkot, Pune, and Indore.

The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium, Dharamshala is currently going through a renovation as HPCA decided to relay the outfield and install a new drainage system.

The last time Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium, Dharamshala hosted a cricket match was a twin T20I between India and Sri Lanka last February. Since then, no cricket has been played on the ground.

The report further added that “BCCI carried out an inspection on February 3, but another inspection is scheduled for this weekend following which a final call will be taken.”

The inspection team will determine if the outfield is safe enough and can tolerate the wear and tear that comes with hosting a Test match. The outfield is sand-based, which experts say needs a dense grass cover.

The scenic venue of Dharamshala nestled in Dhauladhar mountain range is one of the beautiful venues for cricket fans in India.
