I Salute You All Today: PM Modi Interacts With Rescue Teams Sent To Turkey Under ‘Operation Dost’

Date:

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held an interaction session with the NDRF and the Indian Army personnel who were part of India’s humanitarian effort towards Turkey and Syria under ‘Operation Dost’.

PM Modi acknowledged that India was among the first responders to launch search and rescue efforts in Turkey and Syria.

PM Modi while speaking with the personnel said that “Today there is goodwill for India in the world. Whenever there is a calamity, India acts as the first responder and offers help. Be it the Nepal Earthquake, Maldives, or Sri Lanka crisis, India was the first to come forward to help. Now other countries trust in the NDRF is also increasing .”

Lauding the effort of the army and NDRF personnel, PM Modi said that “I salute you all today. When someone helps others, he is selfless. This applies not only to individuals but also to nations. Over the years, India has strengthened its identity both as self-reliant and selfless.”

He further added that “We all have seen those pictures where a mother gives you a blessing by kissing on the forehead.” PM Modi also talked about how he volunteered in the 2001 Gujarat earthquakes and said that “I have seen the difficulties faced in rescuing people.”

The Prime Minister further highlighted the importance of such humanitarian efforts and added that “No matter which country, if it is about humanity, then India keeps human interest paramount. The whole world saw how you reached there immediately. It shows your preparedness and your training skills.”

After the devastation caused by the earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria, India launched Operation Dost to extend assistance after devastating quakes and aftershocks in the region.

The Indian Government sent tons of relief material to both Syria and Turkey in collaboration with the Indian Army as part of the Operation.

Under this, India sent relief materials to Turkey, a mobile hospital, and specialized search and rescue teams. 250 Army personnel were also deployed in the worst-hit areas of Turkey and Syria.
