A claim has surfaced on the internet according to which the government in Dubai is giving 3 gm of gold to anyone on losing 1 kg of weight.
The claim read: “In Dubai if you lose 1kg of weight, the government gives 3 gm of gold. “You loose, you gain”

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim and found it to be misleading.
We started our investigation with a keyword search on Google. The results led to several articles relating to the above claim dating back to 2013 and 2018.
However, no recent report was found that could suggest that the scheme still exists.
The Dubai Municipality confirmed to NewsMobile that “it was an old initiative and competition currently does not exist”.
Hence, in conclusion, the above findings establish that the above scheme used to exist back in the day, but it is no longer active.
