After the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, the rise in influenza cases in several parts of India is creating a scare among the general public.
The country has been reporting a high number of fever and cough cases in the last two months with prolonged illness and lingering cough. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said that this is due to the Influenza A subtype H3N2 virus, a subtype of viruses that cause Influenza (flu).
The symptoms usually include a persistent cough, accompanied by fever. In recent cases, a lot of patients are complaining of prolonged symptoms.
Dos
- Regularly wash hands
- Wear face masks and avoid crowd
- Avoid touching mouth and nose
- Cover nose and mouth while coughing and sneezing
- Consume fluids
- Take only prescribed medicines in case of fever, caught and body ache.
Don’ts
- Shake hands, and prefer less contact
- Spit in public
- Self medicate like antibiotics
- Eat while sitting next to other or in crowd
