FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be FALSE.

Running a Reverse Image Search, we found a news report carrying the same viral image, dated September 25, 2014, with a caption: “20 years ago, Narendra Modi (2nd from left) outside the White House in Washington in 1994 along with G Kishan Reddy (1st from left), currently BJP state president, Telangana.”

The same image was also carried in a news report by The Indian Express with a caption: “Seen here Narendra Modi (2nd from left) outside the White House in Washington in 1994 along with G Kishan Reddy (1st from left), currently BJP state president, Telangana.”

We also found Reddy’s Facebook post, dated September 25, 2014, in which he featured the popular image among many other images and noted that it was originally taken in 1994 when PM Modi had been to the US at the invitation of the American Council of Young Political Leaders.

Thus, it is clear that the viral image does not show PM Modi with conman Kiran Patel. Therefore, the viral claim is false.
