Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the newly integrated terminal building of the Chennai Airport on Saturday.
The cost of the new terminal building amounts to ₹1,260 crores, with designs inspired by the roots of Tamil culture.
According to the civil aviation ministry, the “new integrated terminal building at Chennai Airport, spanning an area of 2,20,972 sqm., is set to cater to the growing air traffic in the state of Tamil Nadu.”
The ministry added that “With the annual passenger handling capacity of 35 Million passengers per annum, the modern facility at the Chennai Airport will improve air travel experiences for all.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and added “This will be an important addition to Chennai’s infrastructure. It will boost connectivity and also benefit the local economy.”
According to reports, the T-2 (Phase-1) building at the Chennai Airport will increase the passenger handling capacity.
