FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the post to be misleading.

We extracted the keyframes of the video and put them through Reverse Image Search. The search led us to a tweet by Hindustan Times dated April 4, 2023, where the same video was said to be from Sikkim.

The video was shared with the caption: #SikkimAvalanche | Videos shows moment when #avalanche hit in #Sikkim The incident happened on a road 14th mile on Jawaharlal Nehru road connecting #Gangtok with #Nathula at the India-China border.

According to the report, a massive avalanche that struck Sikkim’s Nathula border area on April 4, 2023, killing seven people.

We found that the video of the incident was shared by Aaj Tak and EastMojo.

We then ran a keyword search and found reports from early April that Avalanche Hits Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul And Spiti. However, the video features in the reports were different from the ones circulating online. The reports can be seen here, here and here.

Hence, from the above fact check, it is clear that the viral video is from Sikkim and not Himachal Pradesh.
