Rajiv Gandhi Death Anniversary: Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi Pay Homage To Former PM

New Delhi: Congress parliamentary party chairperson Sonia Gandhi, President Malliakrjun Kharge, and Rahul Gandhi paid homage to former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 32nd death anniversary at Vir Bhumi, Delhi.

Gandhi was assassinated by a Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) suicide bomber in 1991. The incident had taken place during an election rally in Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu.

Rajiv Gandhi was the sixth Prime Minister of India. He took over the charge in 1984 following the assassination of his mother and then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He was the youngest Indian PM even to assume office at age 40. He served as the Prime Minister of India till December 2, 1989.
