Asian Games 2023: Annu Rani Wins First Ever Gold In Women’s Javelin Throw

New Delhi: In a historic achievement, Indian javelin thrower Annu Rani clinched the gold medal in javelin throw at the Asian Games on Tuesday, etching her name as the first Indian woman to accomplish this remarkable feat in the tournament’s history.

She clinched the gold medal by achieving an impressive distance of 62.92 metres. Notably, Annu had previously secured a bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games.

Additionally, Tejaswin Shankar won the silver medal in the men’s decathlon, while Praveen Chithra produced a leap of 16.68m in the men’s triple jump event to win the bronze medal at the event.

As of now, India is in fourth place in the medal standings at the 19th Asian Games, with a total of 69 medals, including 15 gold, 26 silver, and 28 bronze medals in India’s tally.
