Fact Check: 2016 Video Of Ronaldo Supporting Syrian Kids Falsely Linked To Ongoing Palestine Crisis

A video showing football star Cristiano Ronaldo extending his support for Palestine amidst the ongoing Israel-Hamas war is widely shared on social media. Many users claim it to be true.

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be false.

Listening closely to the video, we could hear Ronaldo saying “…children of Syria” at the beginning of the video. Checking for the video on Ronaldo’s social media handles, our team spotted an Instagram video, dated December 23, 2016. The video matches exactly with the viral clip, confirming that it was dedicated to the children in war-affected Syrian regions.

His official accounts of Facebook and X also carry the same post. Here too, he dedicates the message to Syrian children.

Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming Ronaldo showed his support for Palestine recently, is fake.
