Asian Para Games 2023: India Stands Fourth With 31 Medals On Day 2

India made a great start at the Asian Para Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China, amassing an impressive tally of 17 medals on the inaugural day. India is currently in fourth place with 31 medals, including 9 gold, 11 silver, and 11 bronze.

India have sent 303 athletes – 191 men and 112 women at the fourth edition of the Asian Para Games marking it as the country’s most extensive contingent in the history of this continental event.

Statistics: 

One of the standout achievements of the day came from Deepthi Jeevanji, who clinched India’s eighth gold medal in the women’s 400m-T20 event. Deepthi’s extraordinary performance clocked in at 56.69 seconds, placing her at the top of the podium. Notably, she outshone Thailand’s Orawan Kaising, who achieved a personal best time of 59.00 seconds but had to settle for the silver.

 In the men’s 400m-T64 final, Ajay Kumar secured a silver medal, showcasing a personal best time of 54.85.

 The day was further adorned by Manish Kaurav, who clinched a bronze medal in the Canoe Men’s KL3 Final event.

Prachi Yadav made her mark by claiming gold in the Canoe women’s KL2 event after securing a silver medal in the women’s VL2 final on the preceding day.

Indian para-athletes Praveen Kumar and Unni Renu continued to shine at the Para Asian Games in Hangzhou with an exceptional double podium finish in the men’s high jump event. Praveen clinched the gold medal for India, while Unni secured the bronze in the men’s high jump T64 final. Their stellar performances added to India’s growing list of achievements at this prestigious sporting event.
