Arvind Kejriwal Sent To Judicial Custody Till April 15

Date:

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been remanded to judicial custody until April 15 after appearing before Special Judge Kaveri Baweja at the Rouse Avenue Court on Monday.

Kejriwal’s judicial custody follows the culmination of his remand period in the Delhi Excise policy money laundering case. Amid tight security measures, the Chief Minister was brought to the court complex by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

During his arrival at the court, Kejriwal criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that the PM’s actions were not beneficial for the country. “Pradhan Mantri jo kar rahe hain woh desh ke liye achha nahi hai (What the PM is doing is not right for the country),” Kejriwal stated while addressing reporters.

The ED, represented by Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, filed an application seeking judicial custody for Kejriwal, asserting that further custodial interrogation was unnecessary at the moment.

Additionally, Kejriwal’s legal team submitted an application requesting permission for him to carry prescribed medication during his time in judicial custody. Another application sought approval for him to have several books, including the Bagwad Geeta, Ramayana, and “How Prime Ministers decide” by Neerja Chaudhary.

Earlier in the day, Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal, and Delhi Ministers Saurabh Bharadwaj and Atishi were present at the Rouse Avenue court ahead of the Chief Minister’s appearance.

Kejriwal’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate stems from his alleged involvement in a money laundering case related to the Delhi Excise Policy. This development follows the extension of his custodial remand by four days by the Rouse Avenue Court last Thursday.

At a rally organized by the INDIA bloc on Sunday, Sunita Kejriwal relayed a message from her husband to party supporters and the public, questioning the righteousness of his custody and reaffirming his commitment to serving the nation.
