New Delhi: Noted Supreme Court lawyer Ram Jethmalani on Monday joined the ex-servicemen who are protesting over delay in One Rank One Pension at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
Joining the ex-servicemen’s protest at Jantar Mantar on 78th day, Jethmalani added his voice to the growing chorus demanding the implementation of ‘One Rank One Pension’ and slammed the Modi government for not fulfilling the demands.
“I am ashamed to say that Modi has completely frustrated my dream of him,” Jethmalani said at OROP protest in New Delhi.
“I want to fight and fight the evil forces that have unfortunately entered our political system. The politicians unfortunately have led down the entire system. I’ve come here to assure the ex-servicemen. I’ve no other ambition left in life except to return love and affection that I have enjoyed from the people of India,” he said.
“Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is your enemy and the enemy of the nation. They might go to court against me. I am ashamed to say that Modi has completely frustrated my dream off him,” he added.
One Rank, One Pension (OROP) scheme has been a long-standing demand of nearly three-million ex-servicemen and war widows in the country. It seeks to ensure that a uniform pension is paid to defence personnel, who retire at the same rank with the same length of service irrespective of their date of retirement.
