Syed Ali Shah Geelani hits out at PDP-BJP coalition, calls PDP ‘slave’

Date:

In a scathing attack on the PDP-BJP coalition in the state, hardline Hurriyat Conference Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Sunday charged PDP of being a “slave” of the Centre and helping BJP and RSS implement their policies in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Though the government is of the two parties, the situation is such that there is no role of PDP here. Only, BJP’s agenda, RSS’s agenda is being implemented and PDP’s hands are being used for that,” he said.

The Hurriyat hawk was addressing a seminar titled ‘Indo-Pak Hostilities: Causes and Solution’ at his Hyderpora residence.

The leader said although Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed talks about development in Jammu and Kashmir, he had not opened his mouth against the “atrocities” done on the people.

“Sayeed talks about schools, roads and development but he has not opened his mouth till now against the atrocities here. He has not said a word about the atrocities by his police, his army and his administration because he has become a slave of the BJP, in thoughts as well as deeds. He only wants to save his chair for the six years and is letting BJP do what it wants to,” he said.

The Hurriyat leader claimed that the government had decided to implement the BJP agenda of settling the 1947 refugees issue in the state and the Chief Minister had bowed his head in front of the BJP.

“We have information that BJP’s programme to settle 1947 refugees has been decided upon. Sayeed has given his consent for that. He has bowed his head in front of the BJP,” he said.

Geelani said the government had also decided upon establishing Sainik Colony and separate settlements for Kashmiri Pandits.

“These plans of BJP will be implemented here with the help of the PDP,” he said.
