Give it chocolates, or this monkey will bite you!

Date:

Monkeys are always known for their antics. In fact, when little kids act all jumpy and weird, many of us quip with this infamous dialogue: Stop monkeying around.

Monkeys are intelligent too. If they know they’ll get food, they’ll keep coming back. And if they’re used to it and you don’t give them what they want, they’ll bite you. No, seriously, that’s what they do.

When this monkey came wandering on to the streets of Sembakkam in South Chennai, passersby found him to be cute and lost. Many of them began throwing tidbits of food, which he gobbled up in no time. Then came a little boy who shared his chocolates and biscuits with him. Yes, little children can be good, too.

So then, this monkey acquired a taste for the chocolates and started going out on the prowl, looking for people carrying chocolates. When no one fed him his daily dose of sweet treats, this monkey got irritated and began biting people thinking they didn’t want to part with their browned delights.

It bit 38 people, including 25 children, before being captured and put inside the Vandalur zoo after a four day chase.
