UP Govt announces 10 lakh compensation for Dadri family

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Government on Wednesday announced Rs 10 lakhs as compensation to the next of kin of the deceased, who was killed over alleged rumours that his family consumed and stored beef in their house.

“The Chief Minister has clearly ordered strict action against whoever is responsible for this(Dadri incident).The chief minister has expressed his condolences to the victim’s family and announced 10 lakh compensation to the next of kin of the deceased. Also two people were grievously injured in this incident and the best possible treatment will be provided to them,” Inspector General of Police , A. Satish Ganesh said.

The 50-year-old father of an Indian Air Force personnel was beaten to death by a mob in Dadri, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday night, over alleged rumours that his family consumed and stored beef in their house.

The family has maintained that the meat stored in their fridge was mutton and not beef. Meanwhile, officials have sent the meat samples for forensic tests.
