Sheena Bora murder: Judicial custody of all three accused extended till Oct 19

Date:

A Mumbai court on Monday extended the judicial custody of all three prime accused in Sheena Bora’s murder till October 19.

The accused are Indrani Mukerjea, the victim’s mother, Mukerjea’s ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and her former driver Shyamvar Rai.

Former media magnate Indrani was on Friday hospitalised after drug overdose with doctors describing her condition as “serious”, leading to speculation that she might have attempted suicide.

The JJ hospital where Indrani is admitted has said that has regained consciousness and is out of danger.

TP Lahane, dean of Sir JJ Group of Hospitals, said Indrani was “out of danger, conscious but drowsy”.

“She is now out of danger and conscious. She is still drowsy and responds to oral commands. We have given her water and she drank it. She will be kept under observation for another 48 hours. Thereafter she will be discharged,” he told media persons.

The sensational case was initially handled by Mumbai Police under the supervision of the then police commissioner Rakesh Maria and later transferred to the CBI by the Maharashtra government.

The CBI lodged a separate case against the three late last month.

Since September 7, Indrani, Khanna and Rai have been lodged in judicial custody.

Sheena Bora was murdered on April 24, 2012, allegedly by Indrani, Khanna and Rai who disposed off her partly burnt body in the forests in Raigad district.
